New Year, New Me (Pending!)

It’s that time of year again, ‘New Year, New Me’ season. A pressure to start on the B of Bang, ready to take on all that the next 12 months promises with fresh vigour and renewed energy. The time is filled with opportunity and expectation that we are ready to leap into and yet… as we cast the curtains aside on the first morning back from the festive period this week, did anyone else feel… a little flat? Perhaps it was the grey, drizzly day and floods that hit the country that greeted us as we landed in 2024. Maybe it was the New Year’s Eve celebrations that had barely finished bringing in 2024, I had a certain groundhog day feel and I’m sure I wasn’t the only one.

There does tend to be a pressure that comes with all the promise and expectation of the New Year and a sense that if it doesn’t start with a bang of energy and productivity, it sets the whole year up for failure.

Is it not a lot for us to expect an incredible and sudden change on just one day? We wouldn’t expect it on any other day of the year, least of all, one that comes straight after a period of relaxing and revelry!

Instead, we know that change and improvement, whether in our personal lives or in our careers, comes from the consistency of sustained effort, discipline and development over a period of time. Rather than viewing the New Year as a brand-new start, perhaps I prefer to view it instead as the next chapter in our ongoing evolution, building on the work of the year before and paving the roads for the year ahead and beyond.

Wherever that road takes you this year, we here at ABPM+ are on hand to help you on the journey. Find out how by reaching out to our team today.

From all of us here at ABPM+, let me take this opportunity to wish you a belated Happy New Year and a positive 2024!
